What's Leftover?

A trail of thirty days littered with "to go menus",an empty rental, a badge without the key, Dorothy's thank you card, legend about a Tilapia, HEADLINES of aliens and alienation, signs without protestors, writings on walls, expressions of discontent, echos of accolades for Senator Papen whose tear dropped on the Senate Floor, a wrinkled bologne wrapper, an empty House, desolate parking lots, a Savage dream and the feel of a lovely smile.

"Don't worry about it", he said.

Yes. Don't worry about it. Let's celebrate what's leftover. In all sizes, shapes, colors- each of us carrying our own flag, our own devotion. Each of us a piece of the leftover. Yes. You're leftover. I'm leftover. Their leftover. WE'RE leftover.

Yes. Let's celebrate.

Press Woman Loreen Mills with Penny Sinone, OCCUPY Santa Fe

Monday, October 24th, 2011

"We ALL do better when We ALL do better".
I believe this. I think that this is true. How about you?
OCCUPY New York, Washington, D.C.; Philadelphia, PA.; Los Angeles, California; Santa Fe. New Mexico; Europe, Asia, Africa, THE WORLD! This month has been a time for occupation indeed. As the leaves fall around us, our physical world is transcending. We watch. We witness the palette of colors. We feel the air as it touches our skin. For some of us who are absorbed in thoughts of occupation as we move in and out of parks, state buildings, sidewalks and streets, this is a time for change. It is a necessity. It is as though a wave is slowly moving, heading towards us and we must choose- run away, go with it, lay down and drown. We are preoccupied with a choice.

I am not a particularly fabulous writer, nor thinker, nor actor. But one thing I know for sure.
I feel better when my community feels better; when we all have food to eat; when we all have opportunities to read, to learn, to live in a safe and healing environment. When we all can share our thoughts and feelings without threat of punishment; when we all love and feel that love in return. For me this means that we, meaning all one hundred percent of us, are a community. When all one hundred percent of us shows up for this communal living! When all one hundred percent of us has the same opportunities for liberty and the pursuit of happiness. When we all do better because we all do better.

Colorful cans on the boardwalk on Coney Island keep the trash off the boards,

the conversations gay, the artists of these creations working. Bravo to the

Islanders who made this possible.
